A current sensor will immediately detect if a commercial fan motor snaps a drive belt. When a drive belt snaps, the motor suddenly has no resistance, allowing it to spin easily and drastically reducing electrical draw. The sensor detects a drop in current and signals the BAS that the belt is broken and that no air is moving.
