Butterfly valves are the vital mechanical components that control massive volumes of water and hydronics in commercial HVAC systems. They must be reliable and purpose-built for the following applications:
Chiller and Boiler Plants
In commercial chiller and boiler plants, butterfly valves are primarily used for equipment isolation and massive volume flow control. Central plants use large-diameter piping, and heavy gate valves or globe valves can be either too bulky or too expensive for your purposes. Instead, lightweight, space-saving butterfly valves can be installed on the supply and return lines of each chiller, boiler and cooling tower.
Cooling Tower Management
In water-cooled HVAC systems, butterfly valves are critical for regulating the massive flow of condenser water between the building's chillers and the rooftop cooling towers. As cooling towers reject heat into the atmosphere, the number of towers needed fluctuates with outdoor temperature and the building's cooling load.
