A flame safeguard control is a group of components that detect the presence of a flame, turn off the fuel if the flame fails, and provide an indication that the flame has failed. The most common components of a flame safeguard control system are a flame sensor, an amplifier, and a relay. The flame sensor detects the presence of the flame and generates a signal proportional to the intensity of the flame. The amplifier takes the signal from the flame sensor and amplifies it so that it can be used by the relay.
