A thermistor is a type of temperature-sensitive resistor that measures changes in temperature, and 10K Type 3 and Type 2 thermistor types are no exception. When the ambient temperature is 77°F, both types have an equal resistance value of 10,000 ohms; however, as the temperature increases or decreases from this baseline, the resistance values diverge between the types (keep in mind that values are nonlinear). A thermistor allows us to read the air temperature at extremely high accuracy, with resolution in the millionths of a degree. A thermistor is also incredibly fast to respond, taking as little as 0.2 seconds to settle on a reading once exposed to a new temperature.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 10K TYPE 3 AND TYPE 2 THERMISTORS?

The 10k type III thermistor is more power efficient than the type II thermistor, especially when operating at higher voltages. This is due to their ability to supply the required quiescent current for driving the sensor while also having lower heat losses. Such features make Type III sensors a preferred choice in many applications as they can provide higher channel density while also offering the same level of performance as type I and type II. Furthermore, these sensors are less susceptible to noise and other forms of disruption which makes them ideal for use in a wide range of industrial applications.
